Dan Sythe, founder and CEO of International Medcom Inc., will talk about his extensive work in the field and explain practical details, such as: how to identify a good monitoring device, use it, understand the data it collects, and then submit collected data to Safecast, a citizen’s monitoring network.

International Medcom has been producing high quality hand held radiation detection instruments and systems since 1986. IMI provided community-monitoring systems to the community surrounding Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. FDNY and NY State Police chose IMI instruments to protect citizens in NYC and all fire engines carry them. Dan is currently working with Japan to monitor the spread of the Fukushima contamination and will be just returning from Japan with updates on the disaster.

Dan is helping the Fukushima Response organization through Peaceroots Alliance to learn about monitoring and sharing radiation information.
