Fundraiser to Benefit Anthony Stewart’s Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana

Peace Roots Alliance is delighted and grateful to put together a fundraiser for our long-time friend and community member, Anthony Stewart and Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana, Africa.

Anthony has spent his life in community, working with kids, whether it was teaching school, music, sports, or starting a summer camp, Kids To The Country, for kids from the inner city to spend time out in the country. Children and education have always been his focus and heart’s calling.

After retiring from working in the school system in California for 30 years, Anthony was invited to visit Ghana for four months to help tutor children in reading. One thing led to another and he is now the principal of the Solid Rock Foundation School and applying his tireless and joyful energy to helping the school continue to develop its curriculum as well as its physical site. He is also in the process of becoming a permanent resident of Ghana, the home of his ancestors—a dream come true for him.

Solid Rock Foundation school serves 250 children, ages 5 to 13 from villages in a very rural and poor area of Ghana. The school has 12 teachers who work with the kids and parents, not only to provide education but also to assist in promoting health and well-being in the community and in developing a sustainable trade for the children.

As we are entering the time of year where we reflect on being thankful and more aware of ourselves and who we are in this world and how we can help, let’s expand our Beloved Community to include Solid Rock Foundation School and give what you can to help them in their mission of education, health and sustainability.

After talking to Anthony recently we became aware of how far our dollars can go in Ghana, which was exciting and even more incentive to give. Whether it’s $10 or $150, it will all go further and help more than you can imagine: $150 sponsors a student for a whole year. Please give what you can to help Anthony and Solid Rock Foundation get even better.

Thanks and many blessings!
